Music Types In Malta
The music of Malta roots all the way back to the 16th century. For Maltese people, music is very important to them. They were able to express their culture through the different types of ghana music which is a type of folk music. Malta has adapted this music because of the location of Malta. Between the European language and the Arabic culture, Maltese people created the ghana folk music. Once people started to visit Malta, the tourists that visited were impressed with the music in Malta. TYPES OF GHANA MUSIC
The first type of Ghana music is called Infromal Ghana this type of folk music originated all the way back to peasant farms. This form of Ghana music is the Maltese day-to-day music this form of Ghana music was really used for the Maltese citizens to pass the hours, women mostly sang this form of Ghana music while they were completing tasks because women back then did not go to work. Women were coming up with new rhymes while talking with each other.
Another popular form of Ghana music is Formal Ghana this form is typically sung by men. Back then men started using this form to basically imitate the informal ghana form. Formal Ghana uses difficult a high level of soprano ranges.
Spirtu Pront is another form of ghana music this form is often sung by two singers and they improvise off of each other while singing this form is also shows
how much knowledge each singer has of the variety of social topics while singing. While the two singers are singing they have to follow a rhyme which is eight seven eight seven, while using this rhyme they also have to use high-flown language which basically means using wit and double meaning. Prejjem is another popular version of Ghana music. This form involves guitarists improvising off of each other keys, the first guitarist will set the tone and the others will play from that tone. There is a certain rhythm that is played by the first guitarist which is E A d g b e' the others will follow behind with the rhythm of a cord one or two below that.
